Description: Michelle Hopkins: Care is our calling for patients and for our staff. Each caregiver comes here holding the power to impact and save lives. Alisha Pratt, Occupational Therapist: I get to work with patients on their best days and I get to work with patients on their worst days, and sometimes it can be very draining and sometimes it can be very hard. We work with patients, no matter what their outcome is going to be. Michelle Hopkins: Better support for our people means better outcomes for kids. So, when we imagine this place, we included our caregivers and ask how can this space support you best. Andrea Cooks, Human Factors Consultant: The staff as a part of the design every step of the way they walk through every aspect. The goal was to design things so that was easy to do the right thing, and hard to do the wrong thing. David Cooper, MD, Medical Director of Heart Institute: Children’s leadership really took the voice of the staff into the design of the building. It's given us a fully functional modern day cutting edge intensive care unit to be able to deliver the top-notch care that we do to the children of Ohio and beyond. Michelle Hopkins: Staff picked out furniture, chose the equipment, decided what goes where. We had to get those things right, small details make huge impacts. Kamali Bouvay, MD, Division of Emergency Medicine: I like that the team centers are more open and that we can interact with each other as staff to make sure that things are being done as they should be, make sure that everyone's doing okay. Amber Wessendorf, RN, Heart Institute: I think the staffing rooms are great because that gives us an offstage area to decompress during our shift. Tracy Watson, Operations, Bone Marrow Transplant: I'm excited for the pass throughs for the staff, and for the patients. The nurses are able to do more quiet efficient work outside of the room without the distractions. Michelle Hopkins: Care is collaborative. Coming together to make people centered spaces with the people who use them. That's our purpose in practice. Working with people. Working for people. Pursuing Our Potential Together so all kids can pursue theirs.
